Brooklyn-based UrbanCred launched in 2018 as an online retailer of bags, accessories, and everyday carry gear. This year they opened their first brick and mortar location, and we’re proud to partner with them for a two month pop-up featuring our Blackout Patchwork and UX10 XPAC collections. For those in the NYC area, we’ll also be having a special in-store event in early December where we’ll release some limited edition collaborative products. Stay tuned for more details.

What’s the story of UrbanCred?
UrbanCred was launched in 2018, born out of both a setback and a vision. After running a previous business that ultimately left me burned out, I took a year off to reflect and figure out what was next for me. During that time, I recalled a frustrating experience where a bag I’d purchased overseas failed me. A malfunction led to my very new and very expensive laptop being destroyed, and I realized how essential reliable gear is in our daily lives. That memory, along with a growing passion for innovative design, discovering my own sense of fashion, and the rabbit hole of everyday carry (EDC), inspired me to create my vision of what a carry shop would look like.
What makes your shop unique?
What sets UrbanCred apart is our approach to curation and our connection with our community. We’re highly selective with the products we feature––each item must offer a perfect balance of design, functionality, and quality. We partner with brands that share our commitment to lasting design and make products that serve multiple purposes, so our customers know they’re investing in pieces they can count on.
Additionally, we focus on building relationships with our customers and listening to their feedback. We want UrbanCred to be a resource and inspiration for people who need gear they can trust and love to use daily.
What ILE product stands out to you and why?
For me, it’s less about a single product and more about one of the collections as a whole: the Blackout Patchwork line really resonates because it combines different types of materials in a cohesive and functional way. It reminds me a lot of our team and the community we’ve been building recently––people from all walks of life, different backgrounds, coming together with shared purpose and passion.
I’ve only just assembled this team, and the support we’ve received from our community has brought so much pride and excitement for what’s ahead. So a big thank you to everyone, including our friends at ILE!
Oh, and the bags themselves are fantastic. I’m especially a fan of the origami pockets on the Default Mini––they’re a small detail that makes a big difference.
